I’m Tamara Owen, and my mission is to help you master your health and well-being so you can start living a more meaningful and passionate life.

As a holistic health practitioner and life coach with a medical and mental health background, my goal is to help you explore the patterns of behavior that are holding you back from becoming your best self.

As a Holistic Health Practitioner and Life Coach, with both a medical and mental health background, I look to balancing your neurotransmitters as a first step in healing the whole body. Once our brains are healthier and better balanced, mental and physical health follows naturally.
As we are chemical, electrical and energetic beings, we have to heal all three of these levels. While therapy and new skills are incredibly beneficial, if our neurotransmitters - the parts that make up our brain chemistry - are out of balance, life can continue to be a struggle.
The balance of our brain chemistry along with the function of our immune and endocrine systems are responsible for governing how we operate throughout our day. Our brain is the control center that determines how we function physically, mentally and emotionally. When our control center isn’t functioning at it’s highest capacity, we can experience all types of symptoms such as anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression, headaches, low motivation, low energy, poor focus and concentration, learning and memory difficulties and many more.
Why is my brain chemistry important?
Balancing our neurotransmitters needs to be in combination with healing our whole body. Once our brains are healthier and better balanced, we feel much more calm and relaxed and life in general tends to feels easier. That’s when therapy and skill building can really start to take effect. Deciding to get healthy is like deciding to go on a road trip; you wouldn’t start packing and planning without making sure your car was ready for that kind of adventure, would you?
Many people take medications for their mental health issues. While medications can have an important place in health and healing, oftentimes people stay on them much longer than necessary. If you feel like you depend on your medications to get through your day or tolerate your work, home life, or relationships, it may be time to reexamine the root cause of why you started taking them in the first place.
I enjoy doing neurotransmitter testing and treatment as a way to help people safely come off medication, reduce their dependency on them, or simply avoid them altogether. Coming off medications can often be a daunting thought because taking them has become a comforting habit. Sometimes negative thoughts or a prescriber has convinced them that they need the medication to cope with their life. Eliminating medication from your daily routine is safe and gentle when done with a scientific and mindful process. Sometimes a very slow taper of medications balanced with nutritional supplementation is all you may need to come off them successfully.
I believe the most important thing for our brains and bodies is to take as little medications as possible to become the healthiest version of ourselves.
The mind-body connection is a powerful one that influences the chemical balance of the brain, which has a profound effect on our daily lives.

One of my fundamental beliefs is that we all have the ability to be healthy. When people think of being healthy they mostly think about diet, nutrition and exercise. But being truly healthy involves so much more. My specialty is helping people craft a personal plan to get and stay healthy on all levels to set themselves up for success – for life.
So why do we need coaching & Life skills?
It’s not always easy to stay on top of all the elements required to take good care of ourselves. We may start out our Mondays feeling very ambitious, making our health and goals a priority and then we begin to make excuses, get lazy and lose that level of determination that is required by Thursday afternoon.
How do I know? I'm presented with the same challenges as you on a daily basis. I have been through periods of extreme self-care and periods of very minimal self-care, and both experiences have lead me to be a better coach. Over the years, I’ve come to know that intentions are wonderful, but follow through is the most important part of changing your life and yourself for the better.

The process of becoming a better you begins with developing an awareness of what is not working in your life and a desire to change. I will teach you how to integrate new skills into your daily life that will assist you in making meaningful changes and help you enhance your relationships.
Skills and tools for healing physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually are an important and effective part of my process. Mastering life skills is essential for living your best life with great health, purpose, and intent.
Is counseling or therapy right for me?
When moving forward in life, it is common to have issues from the past come up and get in the way of any progress we hope to make. These issues can cause emotional distress and a feeling of being stuck. Rather than gloss over these issues, examining them can be very helpful within the framework of a therapeutic process. Taking action, no matter what you are up against or how much you are resistant to it, is key to your physical and mental health and life success.
My approach to working with you is humanistic, interactive, and integrates many different therapeutic and coaching modalities. I see my role as a therapist/coach in facilitating you to remove the blocks which prevent you from discovering your real self to help you move forward successfully in life. I will help you recognize your patterns and beliefs systems which have guided you in how you experience and relate to yourself and others.
