THE 8 AREAS METHOD
The Framework for Creating a Life Well-Lived.
A 10-week live group program with Tamara Owen, RN, MS, PMHNP, for people who have done a lot of living and are ready to stop guessing, understand what’s really going on in their health and life, and learn how the eight areas work together to shape how they feel, function, and live.
A framework developed from more than 40 years of clinical practice and a lifetime of learning what it actually takes to feel healthy.
Fall 2026 Cohort begins October 6.
You probably already know a lot about taking care of yourself.
You know sleep matters. Food matters. Movement matters. Stress matters. Relationships matter.
But knowing the pieces doesn't always tell you what you need.
Because your life doesn't happen one category at a time.
A difficult relationship can change the way you sleep. Poor sleep can change the way you think. Financial stress can affect your body. Your environment can make it easier—or harder—to take care of yourself.
One area shifts, and others often move with it.
Pull one thread, the whole thing shifts.
The question isn't how to get every part of your life perfectly in order.
It's how to understand what is happening across the whole of it.
Sometimes you know something needs to change.
You just don’t know quite where to start.
-
You’ve read the books, tried the routines, changed your habits, or learned a great deal about your health. But more information hasn’t necessarily made things clearer. You may still be wondering where to focus, what to change, or why the things that seem to work for someone else don’t quite work for you.
-
Maybe you’re not sleeping well. Your relationships feel strained. Work is taking more out of you than it used to. You’ve lost some of your energy, curiosity, or motivation. Often, what looks like one isolated problem is connected to something happening somewhere else.
-
Your life may look perfectly fine from the outside. You’re functioning. You’re getting things done. But something feels a little flat, out of sync, or unlike you. You want to feel more energized, engaged, clear, and present in the life you’ve already built—not blow it up and start over.
“Tamara’s course provided me with a well-rounded insight into areas of life where I could use some improvement and direction. Tamara is knowledgeable and passionate about health, in all areas of life. She created a safe and supportive space where I felt comfortable sharing and asking questions. The content and exercises she shared with the class offered valuable tools that I will use throughout my life. This class helped me take giant steps toward becoming the best I can be. Thank you, Tamara! ”
Feeling your best is learnable.
The 8 Areas Method was built around a simple idea:
There is rarely one thing determining how you feel.
Your mental health does not exist separately from your physical health.
Your relationships do not exist separately from your emotional health.
Your environment, finances, curiosity, sense of meaning, sleep, food, self-talk, chemistry—they are continually influencing one another.
That can sound complicated.
The framework makes it clearer.
Over ten weeks, you'll learn to look at your health as a whole: noticing what is already working, understanding where something may need attention, seeing patterns between different areas, and choosing where to begin.
Start with what’s already working. Then build a roadmap for what needs your attention next.
Introducing:
THE 8 AREAS METHOD
The 8 Areas Method is a 10-week live group program that helps you finally see how the different parts of your life are working together, and where your attention can make the biggest difference. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what helps you feel your best, what needs your attention now, and a framework you can return to as life changes.
THE 8 AREAS OF HEALTH
A whole-person framework shaped by more than four decades of working with people, patterns, health, and change.
The method looks at eight parts of your health that are often discussed separately, but experienced together:
physical
mental
emotional
Intellectual
ENVIRONMENTAL
FINANCIAL
SOCIAL
SPIRITUAL
The goal is not to give every area equal attention at all times.
Life doesn't work that way.
One may be thriving while another needs more care. Your priorities may change. What worked for you five years ago may no longer be what you need now.
The practice is learning to notice.
To recognize your strengths before searching for deficits. To understand the relationships between different areas. To make intentional changes without turning your life into another project to perfect.
And to build a way of caring for yourself that can change as you do.
The goal isn't perfect balance.
It's a better understanding of yourself.
By the end of The 8 Areas Method, you will have a clearer way to:
See what is supporting you now.
Recognize where your attention is needed.
Understand how one part of your life may be influencing another.
Distinguish what genuinely matters to you from generic advice about what you “should” be doing.
Make thoughtful changes without trying to change everything at once.
Build practices you can return to when circumstances, priorities, or seasons change.
You are not learning a formula for the perfect life.
You are learning a framework you can keep returning to NO MATTER WHAT LIFE THROWS YOUR WAY.
10 WEEKS.
EIGHT AREAS.
ONE FRAMEWORK for life.
The 8 Areas Method is a live group experience designed to give you both the understanding behind the framework and the space to put it into practice in your own life.
Inside the program:
LIVE TEACHING WITH TAMARA
Guided education and conversation that brings each part of the framework into real life.
The 8 Areas Method workbook
A place to reflect, notice patterns, work through what you're learning, and make it your own.
Group support
The opportunity to learn alongside other thoughtful people doing the same work in their own lives.
Office hours with Tamara
Additional space for questions, clarification, and applying the work.
Ten weeks of practice
Enough time to move beyond simply understanding the ideas and begin noticing what changes when you use them.
This isn't about absorbing ten weeks of information and then moving on.
It's about leaving with a framework you know how to return to.
You don't have to be in crisis to want to understand yourself better.
The 8 Areas Method is for people who have done a lot of living.
People who are thoughtful, curious, and ready to participate in their own health.
You may have already read the books, tried the routines, changed the diet, gone to therapy, taken the supplements, or learned a great deal about yourself.
And still feel as though the pieces have never quite been put together.
This may be for you if you want:
a whole picture rather than another isolated answer
understanding rather than more rules
a framework you can use rather than someone you have to depend on
progress without requiring perfection
a healthier life that still feels like your life
This is not designed as a quick fix, a one-size-fits-all prescription, or a program where someone else does the work for you.
Tamara will walk alongside you.
The work, and what you make of it, remains yours.
MEET TAMARA
Tamara Owen, RN, MS, PMHNP believes
For more than 40 years, Tamara has worked with people trying to understand why they don't feel quite like themselves, and what can actually help.
As a mental health nurse practitioner, she has always been interested in more than a diagnosis, a symptom, or a single part of the person sitting in front of her.
Her clinical training taught her the science: mental health, brain chemistry, genetics, symptoms, patterns, and treatment.
But years of working with real people taught her something equally important:
The issue is rarely just one thing.
Sleep affects how we think. Relationships affect how we feel. Our environment changes how we function. Chemistry, physical health, finances, self-talk, purpose, and connection are continually influencing one another.
Tamara's own life reinforced that lesson.
She has navigated profound loss, motherhood, divorce, cancer three times, the loss of her father, and experienced firsthand what it means to pay attention, adjust, rebuild, and continue becoming.
Over time, the pieces stopped looking separate.
They became a framework for understanding the whole person.
That is where The 8 Areas Method comes from.
Not from the idea that every area of life should be perfectly balanced, but from decades of seeing that when you understand how the different parts of your life are working together, you can make much better decisions about what needs your attention now.
Life is the teacher. The 8 Areas Method is the framework for learning how to listen.
Science is the foundation.
What you do with it is the art.
“Tamara puts her heart and soul into the class content and connections with the class. The resources are top notch and are in various forms to speak to individuals interests/styles.
Each class made me consider my current self and the possibility of my future self; remembering life is continually learning and growing.
Getting to know the others in class was a powerful way to find perspective, insight and motivation.
I highly recommend Tamara’s course. The more you are open to listening/trying the more child like awe can be experienced.”

Frequently asked questions
-
No.
There will be times when one area of your life asks for much more attention than another. That's normal.
The goal is not permanent balance. It's awareness: understanding what is working, what may need attention, and how the areas affect one another so you can respond to your life as it actually is.
-
Then this may be particularly useful.
The 8 Areas Method isn't built around giving you another long list of things you should already be doing. It gives you a way to organize what you know, see connections you may have missed, determine what is relevant to you, and put that understanding into practice.
-
No.
This work is designed for people who are curious about themselves and want to be active participants in their health—not only people who have reached a breaking point.
You can begin from strength.
In fact, that's where Tamara prefers to start.
-
No.
Testing is a separate way to work with Tamara and is not required to participate in The 8 Areas Method.
Science and brain chemistry inform Tamara's work, but this program looks at the broader picture of health and everyday life.
-
The 8 Areas Method is a group educational experience and is not intended to replace individualized psychiatric treatment or other care you may need.
Tamara's clinical services and brain chemistry testing are separate offerings.
-
We’ll meet live every Tuesday from 5–7 PM Pacific Time throughout the 10-week program.
-
Plan for approximately three hours of core program time each week: two hours for our live class and around an hour for reflection, workbook exercises, or putting what you're learning into practice.
You'll also have access to the community throughout the week and an optional one-hour office hour with Tamara.
How much further you take the work is up to you. You can keep it simple and focus on the weekly practice, or spend more time reflecting, participating in the community, and experimenting with what you're learning in your own life.
The more attention you give the practice, the more opportunity you have to notice what shifts.
-
Life happens. Each teaching session will be recorded and added to the program portal so you can catch up—or revisit anything you want to spend more time with.
You’ll have access to the course materials and session recordings for six months after the program ends, giving you plenty of time to return to the work at your own pace.
-
Each week, Tamara will hold an optional one-hour office hour where you can bring questions, talk through what you're noticing, and get additional support applying the week's work to your own life.
Office hours are completely optional and are intended as additional support alongside the live classes and community. Office hours will not be recorded, so participants can speak openly and the conversation can stay in the room.
-
Because The 8 Areas Method is a live group program with immediate access to program materials, community, and a place reserved in the cohort, all enrollments are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.
If you choose a payment plan, you are committing to the full program investment rather than purchasing a cancel-at-any-time subscription.
Your life will keep changing.
So will what you need from it.
The point is not to finally get everything right and keep it that way forever.
It's to understand yourself well enough to recognize what is working, notice what has changed, and know where to place your attention next.
That is the practice.
And over time, those choices become something larger:
A life well-lived.
